Huge Brighton lift as key midfield man pens new contract until 2025 to leave De Zerbi on cloud nine

Brighton have been given a major boost after midfielder Pascal Gross signed a new contract which runs until 2025.

The 31-year-old has missed just one match in all competitions for the Seagulls this season, scoring seven times in 35 outings.

Gross joined Albion from German side Ingolstadt following the club’s promotion in 2017 and has registered a total of 23 goals and 33 assists in 184 Premier League appearances.

Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi told his club’s website: “I am absolutely delighted that Pascal has agreed a new contract with us.

“He is one of the best players I have worked with during my career and every day I appreciate him more and more. He is one of the secrets to Albion’s success.”

Gross deal counters Mac Allister exit rumours

The news will come as a particular boost to the club, given Alexis MacAllister’s continued links to Premier League rivals.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the Argentina World Cup winner.

Indeed, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano expects both clubs to be in play for the midfielder this summer, with Mac Allister currently valued at between £60-70million.

Seventh-placed Brighton are pushing for European qualification going into their final nine top-flight games of the season, while they face a Wembley FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United on Sunday.
