Agent catapults Chelsea into lead for Liverpool, Arsenal target by namedropping ‘idol’ he wants to play alongside

The agent of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has revealed his client’s ‘idol,’ as rumours linking him with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool continue.
The Ecuadorian has been a key player under Roberto de Zerbi this term, with the Seagulls dreaming of playing European football for the first time in their history.
However, Caicedo has admitted he wants to play for a bigger club in the future. So, a summer departure from the Amex is looking likely.
This season, the 21-year-old has made 32 appearances for Brighton, scoring one goal and making one assist.
Generally operating as a defensive midfielder, Caicedo’s main strength is breaking up opposition attacks. He is comfortable with the ball at his feet, too, with an excellent passing range.
As reported by TEAMtalk, Arsenal and Liverpool are believed to be ahead of Chelsea in the race for the midfielder.
Indeed, the Gunners submitted two bids for Caicedo in January, which were rejected by Brighton. So, they could reignite their interest this summer.
However, after his agent’s latest comments, Caicedo could potentially prefer a move to Chelsea.
Caicedo ‘idolises’ N’Golo Kante
Indeed, according to Caicedo’s agent Manuel Sierra, Caicedo will wait until the end of the season before making a decision on his future. But, he did reveal the player’s ‘idol.’
“Moises is completely focused on the last part of the season; all evaluations will be postponed until the summer,” Sierra told Arsenal Informer.
“This is not a surprise because there aren’t many other midfielders so young and talented around Europe. I believe he can really improve in every aspect of the game.
“He can slot into any [team] as he is ready for it all. His dream is to play in the Champions League and to reach as far as he can in football. His idol? N’Golo Kante.”
Now, the question is whether Caicedo will play alongside Kante for Chelsea next season.
The 32-year-old’s current deal at Stamford Bridge will expire in June. However, there is reportedly a ‘mutual appreciation’ between Kante and potential new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino.
So, a new contract could potentially be agreed if the Argentinian is appointed.
But, even if Kante stays, Chelsea could look to bring in a new midfielder this summer. That is because Mateo Kovacic is expected to leave the club.
Kovacic will leave big boots to fill, but given Caicedo’s current ability and potential to get even better, he could be the perfect replacement.
However, as mentioned, Arsenal and Liverpool are still in the race, so there is no guarentee Chelsea will win the race to his signature.
