Chelsea transfer news: Todd Boehly intervenes to help Tuchel land No 1 striker target Aubameyang

Talks on personal terms regarding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea will reportedly take place soon ahead of a potential bid for the star.

Chelsea’s interest in Aubameyang has been well publicised. The striker – who moved to Barcelona last January – was La Blaugrana’s second-top goalscorer last season.

However, the signing of Robert Lewandowski means his role in the side will likely diminish this season.

Chelsea could offer him an opportunity to play more minutes. They have been quoted a £25million figure by Barcelona which is higher than they hoped. However, if Tuchel really wants his man, that type of sum is well within Chelsea’s means.

The Blues are seemingly keen to make Aubameyang a Chelsea player. Indeed, Fabrizio Romano previously stated Aubameyang is Tuchel’s ‘priority’ target up front.

Given he scored 68 goals in 128 Premier League games, it is no surprise  they want to bring him back to the English top flight.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that they have scheduled talks with the player’s representatives.

Psrt-owner Todd Boehly wants to be clear on Aubameyang’s demands before submitting a bid. That will include both the player’s salary demands as well as the length of a proposed contract.

Once those details have been ascertained, Romano added it will be time to submit the bid.

However, Romano also reports that Barca boss Xavi does not want to see the star leave.

But should all go smoothly with the upcoming talks, it will come as no surprise if Aubameyang reunites with Tuchel before the September 1 deadline.

Aubameyang a smart signing for Chelsea

The potential signing of Aubameyang seems a smart one from Chelsea. The Gabonese international’s Premier League goal record speaks for itself.

The Blues’ squad is currently lacking in genuine striker options following the departures of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.

Indeed, Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz have shared the role so far this season, while Armando Broja is relatively inexperienced and seemingly available for loan.

As such, adding a No 9 who has shown his quality in the league previously looks wise business. A lot of sides around Chelsea in last season’s league table have recruited well up top, and doing the same should keep them at a similar level.

Should Aubameyang join the likes of Sterling, Havertz and Mason Mount, it would suddenly seem that Chelsea have a very potent front line and one that could cause a lot of teams problems this term.
