Chelsea star told time is right to quit and would be better making move to smaller club

Jamie Carragher has told a Chelsea first-team star that he should consider ending his Stamford Bridge stay and moving to a smaller club instead.
Christian Pulisic is the player in question, having failed to justify the £58million the Blues forked out for his services from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.
The USA international has shown glimpses of his quality at Stamford Bridge. However, he’s often been let down by his injury record.
The 24-year-old failed to show Thomas Tuchel that he was worthy of a regular starting place and that trend has continued under new Blues boss Graham Potter.
Indeed, Pulisic has only started two games Premier League games this term. And he failed to play the full 90 minutes in both.
And Liverpool great has told Pulisic that he should follow Timo Werner’s lead and quit the club – even if it means joining a lesser club.
Carragher told CBS: “100 per cent [Pulisic should consider a smaller club]. A lot of footballers are different, I do scratch my head when I see certain players at clubs for a long time and they never really get into the team.
“And that’s why I think Thierry [Henry] is saying he respects Timo Werner. Rather than just sitting on the bench another year or two he’s gone back to somewhere where he’s going to play week in, week out.
Potter could still give Pulisic a chance
“And I just think Pulisic is sort of at that stage now where there’s been a few managerial changes. It looks like he’s getting more of a chance with Potter, but not just him, I think Graham Potter is a manager who changes it every game so everyone is getting a chance.
“So he may feel like he’s getting more of an opportunity to prove to the manager he can be in that recognised 11.
“But he’s been there a few years now, it hasn’t quite happened for him for whatever reason, and maybe Dortmund is a level down from Chelsea who are a team who are trying to win the Champions League – we know Pulisic was part of that win.
“But eventually you have to make that decision. I don’t think you can continue to be in that position that he’s been in for the last two or three years.”
Newcastle are known to have shown an interest in the Chelsea playmaker, although there has been nothing concrete.
Pulisic also has two years remaining on his Blues contract, which means the club could still command a decent fee. However, it will be nothing like they figure they forked out in the first place.
