Chelsea thrilled to snatch ‘brilliant’ teenage forward away from London rivals Arsenal

Omari Hutchinson new Chelsea signing

Chelsea have completed the signing of the highly-rated teenage forward Omari Hutchinson from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

The talented winger came through the England youth set-up but has since made his senior international debut for Jamaica in a friendly against Catalonia back in May.

Head of Chelsea’s youth recruitment Jim Fraser said: “We are delighted that Omari has agreed to sign for Chelsea. He is a brilliant addition who joins us as an exciting emerging talent hoping to make a quick impression in the senior game.”

The 18-year-old was regularly involved in the Gunners first-team squad last season. However, he often had to settle for an unused substitute role.

Indeed, he never made a first-team appearance for the club, despite following a similar path to the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

As reported by Metro, he did feature in the behind-closed-doors friendly with Ipswich earlier this month. However, he did not travel with squad which flew to Germany last week for the 5-3 win over Nurnberg.

He was disappointed again after failing to make the cut for the tour of America.

New challenge for Hutchinson

That has led to Hutchinson calling time on his Arsenal career to move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are looking to build on a strong summer of business so far, having landed Rameerm Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.

More arrivals are expected in west London, although it would appear that Nathan Ake won’t be one of them.

The former Blues defender is being tipped to return to his old club. However, the deal looks to have collapsed over City’s hefty asking price for the player.
