Chelsea put offer on table for Cesare Casadei, but Inter Milan have transfer clause in mind

Chelsea are understood to be “serious” over a move for Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei and have lodged an offer for the player, according to a report.
Chelsea are reported to have enquired about the 19-year-old at the time of Romelu Lukaku’s loan deal. The Blues engineered a loan deal for Lukaku last month just a year after he arrive for £95m.
The two clubs agreed a loan move totalling £10.3m, made up of a loan fee of £6.9m plus £3.4m in bonuses. But Chelsea are understood to have asked about a move for Casadei.
The Serie A side though were not keen on including the highly-rated player in the deal.
Now Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Blues have returned to the table with a firm offer.
Todd Boehly has put an offer of around €7m to €8m to the Inter board. The Serie A side are yet to respond to the offer. But as per the source, Inter are keen to add a buyback clause in any prospective deal.
Casadei only joined the Inter first team in February of this year, but he is one of their top ‘Primavera’ prospects. He was the second team’s top scorer with 16 goals last term and was voted the club’s best young player.
He is yet to appear in the first team but he has been involved in the first-team squad in pre-season. The Ravenna-born midfielder was a second-half sub in the 4-1 win over Lugano and was unused in the recent win over Lens.
Casadei valued at €10m
Sky Sport in Italy though believe Inter will let Casadei go if the Blues offer around €10m (£8.3m).
That would represent a huge profit on the player they picked up in 2018 as part of a free deal while Cesena were close to bankruptcy.
The buyback clause that Inter are insistent on could be a sticking point for Boehly and Chelsea.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is believed to be eager to keep the prospect. But with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella ahead of him in the central midfield pecking order his game time will be sparse.
Whether Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel could offer him more first-team options is open to debate
The Blues are stacked with options including N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all in the mix.
