Chelsea poised to launch ‘very high offer’ for key target; Arsenal icon says Blues fans ‘should be excited’
Chelsea are ready to table a ‘very high offer’ for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana in the ‘next few weeks,’ according to reports.
Mauricio Pochettino has a big job on his hands to turn the Blues’ recent form around. Now, he has allegedly made the Cameroon international one of his top targets.
Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has shown his willingness to spend big this season. So, it will be interesting to see if Onana becomes the club’s next big-money addition.
According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, Inter Milan are ‘aware’ that a ‘very high offer’ from Chelsea could arrive in a ‘few weeks’.
As previously noted by TEAMtalk, the Italian club will consider bids in the region of £44m for Onana this summer.
It’s no secret that Pochettino is keen on bringing in a new shot-stopper. Indeed, Edouard Mendy has been heavily linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge, while Kepa Arrizabalaga could certainly do with some quality competition.
With that in mind, a move for Onana could be a great bit of business for Chelsea.
This season, the Inter goalkeeper has made 40 appearances across all competitions. In the process, he has conceded just 35 goals and has kept 19 clean sheets.

Ian Wright: Chelsea ‘probably need’ a keeper
Speaking on match of the day, Arsenal icon Ian Wright has tipped Pochettino to ‘sort out’ Chelsea. However, he emphasised the need for the Blues to bolster two key areas.
“I don’t think Pochettino needs to do much this summer because of the calibre of coach he is and how good he is with young players and how he can organise a team,” Wright said.
“If you look at what Chelsea have got, probably sign a goalkeeper this summer, definitely a number nine – but when you look at what they’ve got in the squad, they’ve got enough pieces.
“He needs to cut the squad down a bit and bring in some quality. They’ve already got quality but bring in a bit more. Chelsea fans should be excited about Pochettino because he will sort this out.”
Indeed, Chelsea’s biggest problem this season has undoubtedly been scoring goals. They netted just 38 times in 38 matches – by far the least of any ‘big six’ side.
But, with Onana on the way out, a new top-quality keeper is arguably just as important as a centre-forward.
So, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea do table a concrete offer for Onana in the ‘next few weeks.’
