Paper Talk: Chelsea make giant late deadline day play to secure sensational Leeds raid

Jack Harrison and Raphinha of Leeds. Chelsea fancy late deadline day move for Brazilian

Raphinha is the subject of a huge late approach from Chelsea, though the deal will likely wait until summer, West Ham are closing on a new defender, while the deadline day transfer gossip claims Newcastle are looking to make two late signings.

CHELSEA LAUNCH HUGE DEADLINE DAY RAPHINHA OFFER

Chelsea are planning to launch a huge deadline day approach to Leeds to sign star winger Raphinha, claims a report.

The Brazilian star was the subject of a failed £50m approach from West Ham over the weekend, an offer Leeds were quick to dismiss.

Now the Daily Mail claims the Blues are ready to launch a bid of their own, which will raise the Hammers’ bid.

However, the paper admits that Thomas Tuchel’s side will likely have to wait until the summer.

Furthermore, their advances for Raphinha today will be met with the same rejection that the Hammers received.

But that will not stop Thomas Tuchel’s side in their quest to bring the Brazilian to Elland Road.

Indeed, citing transfer expert Gianluigi Longari, they state Raphinha will become the No 1 summer focus for the Blues.

They claim Tuchel sees Raphinha as the perfect addition to his side – and the offer of Champions League football could help secure the move.

Deadline day swoop looks tough

Furthermore, the Blues will look to move on Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and possibly Hakim Ziyech to help fund his signing.

Leeds, though, have always maintained that their leading light is not for sale.

In addition, their remains an optimism that Raphinha will soon sign a new deal at Elland Road to become their record earner.

And with the star currently away with Brazil in international action, Chelsea know a deadline day deal looks highly unlikely.

But the Blues will come again hard in the summer in a bid to lure Raphinha away and convince Leeds to sell.
