Declan Rice latest: Chelsea make new approach as Tuchel prepares to offer two players to West Ham

Chelsea have reportedly made their first approach to West Ham United over the potential transfer of Declan Rice.
The Blues have fallen short in their first attempt. Chelsea have been told that Rice is not for sale, however, it is believed that the club will continue to pursue the deal. Now, details have emerged of two players Chelsea could be prepared to offer to help the deal go through.
According to 90min, Chelsea may return with a deal that includes offering Ross Barkley and Armando Broja.
Rice has two years left on his current deal, with the option of extending for a further year. However, the England international has rejected a number of new deals that would make him the highest-paid West Ham player.
Nevertheless, the Hammers are holding firm on their £150m valuation. And considering how important Rice was to the squad last season, it’s clear to see why.
The 23-year-old featured in 36 of the 38 Premier League fixtures, and was a key figure in landing West Ham a spot in the Europa Conference League next season. He was also influential as David Moyes’ side reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season.
But with the player refusing to extend his deal, West Ham may have to accept a fee at some stage this summer.
Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly is also clearly a fan of the defensive midfielder. According to the report, it was him who instructed the club to make contact with West ham over the sale.
Declan Rice swap with Barkley and Broja
It is unlikely that Chelsea would be willing to pay the £150m valuation. However, with two players going the other way, the deal becomes more realistic.
Ross Barkley has been with Chelsea since 2018 when he joined for £15m from Everton. However, he has struggled in recent years at Stamford Bridge, making just six league appearances last season.

Thomas Tuchel wants Declan Rice at Chelsea this summer
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants many changes to his team this summer but midfielder Declan Rice is the most important piece to the puzzle
Broja enjoyed a successful first-half of the season on loan with Southampton. In 32 league appearances, he scored six goals, and will now be returning to Chelsea.
Whether West Ham are interested in either player remains to be seen. However, with Chelsea now increasing their interest, it could be a long summer full of Rice transfer speculation.
