€100m transfer dependent on two conditions for star Chelsea boss Tuchel ‘loves’

Federico Chiesa Juventus November 2021

Chelsea could find themselves in pole position to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa at the end of the season, claims a report in Italy.

Italy star Chiesa is a winger whose profile rocketed after Euro 2020. The 24-year-old scored twice in seven appearances at the finals and was the Azzurri’s star man as they lifted the trophy. He also scored 14 goals and contributed 11 assists in his first season with the Turin giants.

This term the winger has three goals and three assists so far in a team which is struggling in Serie A.

And that factor may well see Juve forced into selling their prized asset next summer.

Allegri’s men sit seventh in the table, seven points behind fourth-placed Atalanta – a team who beat them 1-0 last weekend.

Allegri faces a battle to get the Old Lady into Europe and La Gazzetta dello Sport via Football Italia has revealed a host of players might have to leave if they miss out on the Champions League next season.

That would incur an expected loss of around €80m and Chiesa is among the names that could be sold to balance the books.

Juve, it’s worth pointing out, would be loathed to lose the speedster from a football point of view. But financially they may well be forced into a corner.

Chelsea are known to have more than a passing interest in Chiesa.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel's Andreas Christensen ultimatum

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel's Andreas Christensen ultimatum

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has urged Andreas Christensen to walk the talk over his contract after showing willingness to sign a new deal, with more news on Matthijs de Ligt and Jules Kounde.

Fabrizio Romano told his podcast ‘Here We Go’ that Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel would jump at the chance to sign the player.

Chiesa scored the only goal in the 1-0 win over Chelsea at the Allianz Stadium in September.

“The rumours start because we know that Thomas Tuchel loves this player,” Romano said. “He thinks Chiesa is one of the best wingers in the game.”

The striker is currently on loan at Juve from fellow Serie A side Fiorentina. However, the Old Lady have an agreement to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season. Juve will make the deal permanent next summer for a reported €60m (£54m).

The price tag for any further sale could hit €100m.

Chiesa denies Allegri issues

Italian outlet TuttoJuve (via Sport Witness) in October reported that a major offer was made for the player.

Liverpool supposedly put down between €80m and €100m (£67.7m-£84.6m) for Chiesa’s services. Their bid was matched by German champions Bayern Munich.

Chiesa himself spoke about the links and denied a rift with Allegri in September.

Chiesa told Amazon Prime Italia: “I’ve never had a problem with the coach. This was just created by the media. I do whatever he asks, there’s no issue here.

“I know you lot like it when Juve start the season badly, so you can start with pointless gossip. But we are all behind the coach and want to bring Juve back to the years of dominating the Scudetto race.”
