Details emerge of sensational proposed deal to bring Eden Hazard back to Chelsea

Chelsea are in discussions to bring Eden Hazard back to the club on a sensational loan deal in the summer, claims a report.

The 31-year-old attacker was the darling of the Chelsea fans before he left for Real Madrid in 2019. He won the Premier League twice, the Europa League twice and the FA Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge. He departed for Spain though for a fee which could top £150m with add-ons.

However, his time in the Spanish capital has been far from smooth. And he still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his Los Blancos contract.

“Leaving Chelsea is the biggest and toughest decision in my career to date,” wrote Hazard at the time. And now, according to Spanish football journalist, Ramon Alvarez of Radio Marca, a return could be in the offing.

Per the source, the two clubs are in talks over a loan deal for Hazard. Of course any deal would have to wait until the summer with the winter transfer window closed. But Chelsea are keen to take the Belgium forward back on a season-long loan.

Negotiations are already underway to push through a temporary deal in the summer, with no option to make it permanent. Hazard would then return to Madrid in July 2023 with 12 months remaining on his contract.

The prospective move could well be a win, win for both parties. Chelsea get back a man who scored 110 goals across seven seasons for the Blues.

Hazard in Real’s plans

While Real get to put the player in the shop window after getting just nine starts in all competitions this season. They would then have the option to extend Hazard’s contract, if he returned to form, or sell him in the summer of 2023.

In fact Hazard has started just seven LaLiga games under Carlo Ancelotti this term.

But Ancelotti did confirm the player did have a future at the Bernabeu next season

“Hazard is in our plans for the next season, I can confirm,” he said before the recent 2-2 draw with Elche.

Hazard’s tumultuous time in Spain has been hindered by a number of injury problems. He missed almost three months with a fractured Fibula in February 2020. While he has also had hamstring injuries and he contracted Covid-19 in November 2020.

He has featured in Real’s last three LaLiga games, but only from the bench.
