Firm belief Chelsea can outbid rivals for Gleison Bremer after new meeting directed by Torino

Torino defender Gleison Bremer

Torino have spoken once more with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur to see if they can present them with a good offer for Gleison Bremer, according to reports in Italy.

Bremer is almost certain to leave Torino this summer after a standout season on an individual basis. He is a major target for Inter Milan, who have been classed as favourites to sign him. However, the centre-back has attracted plenty of admirers in England as well.

For example, Chelsea are supposedly keeping tabs on Bremer after the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. Across London, Tottenham could also target him amid Antonio Conte’s need for a new defender.

All three of Bremer’s suitors – Inter, Chelsea and Spurs – operate with a back three. Therefore, he has clearly been identified as someone suitable for such a system.

But it remains to be seen which one he will line up in next season. Torino are ready to cash in, but are hoping to send him to someone who will have given them a high bid.

According to Tuttosport, Inter remain in pole position for the Brazilian. However, as things stand, they would only offer between €30m and €35m (£25.9m to £30.2m).

In contrast, there is a feeling that in the English market, Torino could gain up to €40m (£34.6m) from Bremer’s sale.

With that in mind, Torino technical director Davide Vagnati has approached Chelsea and Tottenham again for talks. The Blues seem to be the most concrete admirer between the two.

However, in an intriguing chain of events, the report reminds Chelsea are also keen on current Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar. If the Nerazzurri can sell him – either to Chelsea or PSG, presumably – they could raise their own attempts to successfully bid for Bremer.

Gleison Bremer or Milan Skriniar good for Chelsea

Whichever way the transfer saga turns out, signing either Bremer or Skriniar would be good for Chelsea.

They clearly need new centre-backs, and although neither of the Serie A targets has played in the Premier League before, they have the appropriate qualities.

Bremer has been a revelation for Torino over the past 12 months, while Skriniar remains a strong centre-half; the Slovakia international is good at reading the game and making timely interventions.

However, Inter value Skriniar above the €70m (£60.5m) mark, according to Tuttosport. Hence, Bremer may be better value for money.

Consequently, it would be worth them outbidding Inter for the 25-year-old.
