Chelsea get ‘real opportunity’ to sign Man Utd target Potter ‘really likes,’ with £80m bid necessary

Juventus pair Dusan Vlahovic and Denis Zakaria

Graham Potter is reportedly a huge admirer of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, as Chelsea consider launching a bid to sign him this summer.

The Serbia international has been in fine form for the Old Lady this season, attracting the interest of several top European clubs.

With that in mind, Chelsea will have to compete to sign Vlahovic, while Juventus will likely demand a huge fee for his services.

Since the Italian giants signed Vlahovic for £67m from Fiorentina in January 2022, he has scored 19 goals in 47 appearances, long with making six assists, giving him an impressive average of 0.53 goal contributions per game

This season, the 23-year-old has continued his good form, netting goals in 26 appearances for Juve – despite suffering from injury problems.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Manchester United are thought to hold a concrete interest in signing Vlahovic, while Chelsea have previously been linked with the striker, too.

There is a clear need for the Blues to sign a new centre-forward, though, given Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has barely featured under Potter recently, forcing him to utilise Kai Havertz out of position as a striker.

With that in mind, Vlahovic could be the perfect addition for Chelsea, but as mentioned, they will have to put their money where their mouth is to get a deal over the line.

Graham Potter ‘really likes’ Vlahovic

Reputed transfer journalist Ben Jacobs claimed back in January that Chelsea held an interest in the Juventus frontman, who could be on the move in the summer.

Now, Jacobs has given an update on the striker’s future, adding that the Blues have a ‘real opportunity’ to get a deal done.

Writing for GiveMeSporthe said: “Vlahovic, for me, is still one to watch from Chelsea’s point of view, and that’s because I think there’s a real opportunity to prise him away from Juventus, especially given their circumstances at the moment.

“He’s not been particularly happy playing under Max Allegri, and Graham Potter really likes Vlahovic as well.”

If Chelsea are to bring in a new centre-forward this summer, Potter should definitely be in the conversation, rather than another deal being spearheaded by Todd Boehly.

However, according to Transfermarkt, Juventus could demand in excess of £80m for Vlahovic this summer, so Potter will need Boehly’s backing on that front.

Arguably, Chelsea have been in need of a prolific goal scorer for years, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Aubameyang failing to make the desired impact at Stamford Bridge.

Vlahovic certainly has the potential to be a transformational signing for the Blues, but Manchester United may yet launch their own approach for the Serbian.
