Chelsea scouting Gleison Bremer as perfect Rudiger replacement but two obstacles must be overcome first

Chelsea are reportedly ready to turn to Italy in their search for Antonio Rudiger’s replacement, with the Blues having scouted Torino star Gleison Bremer in recent weeks.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is expected to bring in at least one new centre-back this summer, with doubts also continuing over soon to be free agents Andreas Christensen and Cesar Cesar Azpilicueta.
And Brazilian Bremer appears to be one of their top targets after the Blues lost Rudiger to Real Madrid.
A report from football.london claims Chelsea having been looking at 25-year-old Torino recently. They add that Bremer has impressed scouts with his leadership, technical ability and aggressive defending.
The likes of France stars Presnel Kimpembe and Jules Kounde have also been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge. The Blues have also been handed the chance to sign Napoli standout Kalidou Koulibaly.
However, it appears that Bremer has jumped the queue and that Chelsea feel he can help develop the likes of Malang Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah to develop into top defenders.
Number of top clubs chasing Brazilian star
His signing could be a difficult one though. Liverpool, Tottenham and Leicester have all previously been linked with the player, along with many of Europe’s top clubs.
Bremer is expected to cost in the region of £40million, which could something of a bargain in today’s market.
Chelsea’s second issue surrounds the continued concerns over who will buy the club from Roman Abramovich.
The Blues are unable to bring in any new talent until a new buyer takes charge. However, that is currently proving to be a lengthy process.
Thomas Tuchel did appear to suggest there could be some light at the end of the tunnel in that regard in his press conference for Saturday’s clash with Wolves.
Classy Bremer could be perfect Chelsea addition
Bringing in the classy Torino star would be a strong addition for a Chelsea side that may need an overhaul in the centre of their defence.
Bremer is renowned for being a strong defender who is capable of mixing it with top strikers. He would therefore be a perfect replacement for LaLiga bound Rudiger and a nice foil for veteran star Thiago Silva.
One other aspect of the Brazilian’s performance is how he reads the game. He ranks among the highest in Serie A for interceptions and is also comfortable playing out from the back.
Yes, Chelsea need to sort off-field matters first, but bringing in Bremer will certainly soften the blow of losing Rudiger.
