Liverpool, Chelsea told they should ‘bite their arm off’ for Bundesliga star who would ‘really suit’ Prem
Glen Johnson would “like to see” Jamal Musiala at Liverpool or Chelsea, and he believes most top teams would “bite their arm off” for him.
Despite being just 19 years of age, Musiala is one of the finest talents in the Bundesliga. Indeed, the youngster has been directly involved in 44 goals in 100 games for Bayern Munich.
That he scored six goals in his first proper season in the first team highlighted his talent.
This season, he is showing just how much good of a player he really is. The 19-year-old is currently the fourth-highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga.
He has scored nine goals in 14 games. In addition to that, the midfielder has provided seven assists, meaning he contributes to a goal at slightly better than once a game so far.
It’s little surprise that he found himself starting for Germany at the World Cup, given his influence at club level.
Musiala started all three of Germany’s group games. Despite them being knocked out, as they lost one game and drew another, Musiala was a shining light.
He assisted the only goal in his country’s 1-1 draw with Spain. He was also part of the ‘best eliminated XI’ compiled by WhoScored, as he averaged a 7.64 match rating throughout the tournament – the second-highest rating of any eliminated player so far.
Johnson hails Musiala World Cup performances
Former Premier League defender Johnson has admitted Musiala would suit England, as he hailed the star for his World Cup performances.
“Musiala was getting involved in most of Germany’s attacks before they were knocked out. He looks like he would really suit the Premier League,” he said via Metro.
“I wish he was still English, but he’s probably the last person we need because of the talent we have in his position already.
“Musiala would get into the England team, he would certainly go toe-to-toe with all the other midfielders in the team. I’d definitely say he’s good enough to start for England.”
Indeed, Musiala might well suit England, given he played for Chelsea’s academy, as well as multiple England age-group sides before joining Bayern and deciding to play for Germany.
Johnson wants Musiala at Liverpool or Chelsea
Johnson also revealed he feels Liverpool and Chelsea should be going after the star.
“I’d like to see Jamal Musiala in a Liverpool or back in a Chelsea shirt, especially with the way he’s playing at the moment. Most top teams would bite their arm off for him,” he said.
Indeed, a few sides have been credited with interest in the midfielder over the past year. His top performances at the World Cup will only see his stock rise.
Whether he is to make a move at any point remains to be seen, though. He certainly seems to be thriving in Germany for the moment.
