Lukaku agent ‘scared’, as report reveals worrying length of Chelsea injury

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, October 2021

Romelu Lukaku’s agent has admitted that he felt “scared” about the Chelsea star following his ankle injury against Malmo.

The Belgium international limped off during the first half of the Blues’ 4-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. Indeed, he twisted his ankle in a challenge with Lasse Nielsen, which led to a penalty.

Boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Lukaku will be out for some time. Still, he stopped short of offering an idea of the timeframe for the striker’s absence.

However, according to The Sun, Lukaku in fact faces a month out with the ankle problem.

He will therefore miss Premier League games Norwich, Newcastle and Burnley.

The Blues also have a Carabao Cup tie and the reverse Champions League clash against Malmo coming up.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Lukaku’s agent admitted concern for his client’s fitness.

Federico Pastorello said: “I was very worried because Romelu is a player who really wants to play and the fact he stayed lying on the pitch so long after the penalty, it doesn’t look good to me because he is someone who immediately stands up.

Chelsea suffer double blow in pursuit of new defender

Chelsea have suffered a double blow in pursuit of new defender according to reports, with more news on Mason Mount and Ousmane Dembele.

“The fact he was down for four minutes… I was with Petr Cech and I told him while watching the game that it was something I was scared about because he isn’t one to make a fake scene.

When he stood up I thought it is not a good sign and now we are waiting for the exams so we will know something more soon.

“But if you see the pictures and the video of the injury, the position of the ankle is really under the weight of the body but he is a strong boy and he wants so much to play every game so he will be back stronger soon I am sure.”

Lukaku’s presence has proved vital for Chelsea this season, as he has scored four goals in 11 games.

Lukaku agent backs Chelsea recovery

Despite going on a barren run of late, though, Tuchel has defended him. The manager has pointed towards his other influences, in a war of words with Lukaku’s former Inter boss, Antonio Conte.

Pastorello insisted that he felt “100 per cent sure” that his client would have scored against Malmo had he stayed on.

He added: “He was on fire but he is really concentrated and will be focused on his recovery as soon as possible.

“He has his physio at home so he is working hard every evening even before he goes to sleep so if there is a time to come back it will be earlier than planned.”

Chelsea also lost Timo Werner against Malmo and Tuchel admitted similar concern for his injury.
