Mason Mount sheds light on Todd Boehly meeting with Chelsea contract talks to begin ‘soon’

Mason Mount has revealed Todd Boehly held a meeting with the Chelsea squad to discuss their ambitions, as well as providing an update on his next Blues contract.
Chelsea are yet to sign any new players since they were taken over by Boehly and his consortium in late May. But that will soon change.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are on the verge of announcing Raheem Sterling’s arrival from Manchester City. The England winger has taken part in a medical and will soon be in LA to join their pre-season tour.
Chelsea have agreed to pay City £50m for Sterling, who is set to pen a five-year contract worth more than £300,000 per week.
Sterling could be followed by Kalidou Koulibaly. Chelsea are preparing to submit a second bid for the Napoli defender, worth £33.7m.
Fabrizio Romano claims Napoli are likely to accept the offer. And the move shouldn’t take long to go through as Chelsea have already sorted out personal terms with Koulibaly.
Alongside new signings, one of Chelsea’s top priorities is to tie down Mount and Reece James to new contracts.
Mount’s contract expires in 2024, while James’ runs out the year after that.
Mason Mount eager to extend Chelsea stay
Chelsea have been tipped to start negotiations with Mount for several months. However, they are yet to formally begin, leading to slight concern among Chelsea fans.
During an interview with the Evening Standard, the attacking midfielder was asked about his future and the ownership of Boehly.
He revealed a meeting has taken place with Chelsea’s new owners, as well as when contract discussions may start.
“After the last game of the season we had a little get-together at the hotel and he [Boehly] was there with the rest of the consortium, it was good to meet them in person and speak to them all,” Mount said.
“It’s so exciting what the future holds. It’s an unknown but the way it’s started is really exciting to see what’s going to happen.
“We’re a team that over the last ten years has been up there and pushing and that is where we want to stay. Speaking to them about their goals and aims, we’re on the same page.
“So hopefully that continues. I’ve got two years left on my contract and I’m very, very happy here. Those talks will hopefully be starting soon.”
It seems Chelsea supporters don’t have to worry about Mount leaving. He is clearly enjoyed his time at the club, despite reportedly being a target for Real Madrid.
Bringing in Sterling and Koulibaly and then finalising new contracts for Mount and James will show everyone what Chelsea’s new owners are about. They have ambitions to take the Blues back to the summit of English football and such deals will only aid that pursuit.
Meanwhile, Koulibaly has spoken about his potential Chelsea transfer for the first time.
