Chelsea in ‘pole position’ to sign Ousmane Dembele as Thomas Tuchel pushes for double deal

Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is pushing hard to sign Ousmane Dembele and the Blues look to be pole position to get a deal done, reports in Spain have claimed.

It is all happening at Chelsea at the moment with some big potential signings in the pipeline. Talk of Cristiano Ronaldo signing is hotting up. But Chelsea have plenty of other irons in the fire it would seem and Dembele is one of them.

The Frenchman looks set to leave Barcelona on a free transfer after failing to agree a new deal. The Catalan giants have made the player an offer and a contract is on the table. However it looks as though it is not good enough and Dembele will look to move on.

This despite reports claiming he is happy under Xavi and wants to stay at the Nou Camp. The Spanish publication Marca now say that Tuchel is pushing hard to get the deal done. They also say that Chelsea are in the best position to sign him.

Tuchel does know Dembele well from their time together at Borussia Dortmund. And he believes he can get the best out of him again following a troubled time in Spain.

Dembele has struggled with lack of form and injuries at Barca. He is probably in need of a fresh start and that could be with Chelsea.

There is also interest from Paris Saint-Germain but Marca say Chelsea are favourites to get it done.

The 25-year-old burst on to the scene at Dortmund in the 2016/17 campaign, He scored six goals in 32 appearances, prompting Barca to pay a staggering £135million to get him on board.

Chelsea believe that Raheem Sterling is the better option compared to Ousmane Dembele due to poor injury record

Even though the move cannot be deemed a success he has plenty of good years ahead of him. If Tuchel can get him back to his best then on a free transfer he will be a top signing.

Chelsea chasing double deal

Meanwhile Chelsea also remain in the hunt for Manchester City star Raheem Sterling. It looks as though Tuchel wants both him and Dembele on board. The duo would bring a fresh spark to the Chelsea attack and deals are in the pipeline.

Sterling has one year remaining on his current contract and has yet to sign a new one. The 27-year-old is said to be weighing up his options before deciding on his next move.

Chelsea could launch a £60million move to get the England international on board ahead of the new season.
