Raheem Sterling transfer latest: Man City star prepping for Chelsea life as first Tuchel bid emerges

Chelsea are growing more confident about signing Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, who is reportedly doing his own transfer research.

The England international’s future at the Etihad Stadium has been uncertain for some time. However, that doubt has ramped up this summer as Sterling is entering the final year of his deal.

The arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez could well shift the balance for Sterling next season. And at 27, with the World Cup approaching too, the winger could well seek a new challenge.

While previous reports have talked of Chelsea‘s interest in Sterling, fresh claims now reveal the player’s interest in the Stamford Bridge club.

Indeed, The Athletic claims that Sterling has asked people about life in Chelsea. He has also asked about Blues boss Thomas Tuchel’s management style.

In fact, the report claims that the transfer fee is the only thing standing in the way of Sterling moving to Chelsea.

Sky Sports News provides an update on the potential cost of what would be one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer window.

The outlet claims that it will take close to £60million for Chelsea to sign the forward.

That is despite him entering the final year of his deal, with City considering his 320 Premier League appearances, his senior role with England and the fact that he is entering his prime.

But Sky Sports News claims that Sky Italy have said Chelsea hope to secure a deal for £35million. Tuchel is a ‘big admirer’ of Sterling, the report adds. The German thinks he will better suit his team than Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea are in talks to loan Lukaku back to Inter after his struggles last season, when the Belgian returned to Stamford Bridge for a club-record £97.5million.

Sterling statement for Chelsea

Chelsea have ambitions to close the Premier League gap between themselves and Liverpool and Man City.

City and Liverpool have strengthened significantly with the respective arrivals of Haaland and Nunez.

Chelsea therefore need to follow suit and Sterling would be a statement signing.

Raheem Sterling to Chelsea makes sense

Raheem Sterling has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

It would also rank as one of the most high-profile moves for an Englishman in recent years, given his success with City and the fact he would go to Chelsea to try and help close the gap to his former club.

For Sterling, though, he could cement his status as in the Premier League by succeeding at Chelsea. He is also looking to maintain his peak form ahead of the World Cup.

And City would be wise to sell up amid the prospect of them losing him for free next summer.
