Ruben Loftus-Cheek ‘offered’ to Serie A giants as price tag suggests Chelsea days numbered

Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek during the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has spent his entire professional career on the Chelsea books. But despite making his senior debut way back in December 2014, the talented schemer has never been a permanent first-team fixture. He has made just 122 appearances and scored 13 goals, starting many games on the bench.

The Londoner has enjoyed two loan spells away from Stamford Bridge. He spent the 2017-2018 campaign with Crystal Palace and enjoyed 21 starts among 24 Premier League appearances.

And once again the man with ten England caps started 21 games while on loan with Fulham in 2020-21. He returned to Chelsea last summer, hoping to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

And he did start 13 top-flight games among 24 outings. However, rumours that he is unhappy with a lack of regular game time will not go away.

There have been reports that Italian outfit Lazio are keen. The Rome-based club have former Blues chief Maurizio Sarri at the helm.

And it was under the 63-year-old’s tutelage in 2018-19 that Loftus-Cheek enjoyed his most productive season for the club.

He scored six goals after being handed 24 league outings by the Italian. But it seems as though another Serie A club are also interested.

Gazzetta dello Sport go as far as saying that the player has been offered to the Nerazzurri. It remains to be seen if the clubs involved can agree on a price but it might be that a deal is in the offing.

Loftus-Cheek won’t break the bank

The summer months see many big-money moves completed throughout Europe, with millions of pounds spent on new players.

But it appears as though Loftus-Cheek will be allowed to leave for just £17m. That is the value Chelsea have placed on their star, according to the report.

Having reached double figures in terms of England caps, Loftus-Cheek has not featured for the Three Lions since 2018. His international career has mirrored that at domestic level and a move away from the Bridge makes sense.

Whether Inter opt to take him on board only time will tell. But he still has many good years ahead of him and it may be that the best is yet to come.
