Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Norwich City youngster Alex Matos on a free transfer this summer, TEAMtalk understands.

The 18-year-old forward is out of contract at Carrow Road at the end of the season and a deal has been agreed for Matos to join Chelsea officially on July 1st.

As part of the deal Norwich and Chelsea have agreed a sell-on clause in his contract as part of the compensation for his transfer.

Chelsea are eager to build a strong base of youth in their Under-23s squad following the promotion of Jim Fraser as the club’s head of youth development and recruitment earlier this year.

Matos has primarily been featuring as a right winger for Norwich this season and has competed in both the Premier League 2 and the U18 Premier League.

The former England Under-15 international has provided three assists in 13 appearances in Premier League 2 this season and scored one and provided another in eight appearances for the U18s.

Matos joined the Norwich academy from Luton Town after impressing club scouts at Under-12 level and he has worked his way up the age groups at Carrow Road.

The English youngster is set to be among a number of new arrivals at Chelsea as they look to revamp their youth setup ahead of next season.
