Chelsea star emerges as Tuchel’s ‘absolute dream’ signing at Bayern with Bundesliga move almost inevitable

A Chelsea player appears destined to reunite with Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich as he has become the manager’s ‘absolute dream’ signing this summer, according to one source.

Tuchel was in charge of Chelsea between January 2021 and September 2022. He worked wonders in his first season at Stamford Bridge to help Chelsea win the Champions League for the second time in their history. The Blues also triumphed in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup while Tuchel was at the helm.

Despite all the success the German had in west London, Chelsea parted company with him towards the start of the current campaign. One of the main reasons for this was that he did not get on with the club’s new owners following the takeover by a Todd Boehly-led consortium.

Tuchel’s sacking did not go down well with the Chelsea fans at the time and they continue to clamour for his return. Tuchel was replaced by Graham Potter, though he was axed in early April as he failed to get to grips with the size of the role. Frank Lampard has been appointed on an interim basis as Chelsea look to bring in Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

Tuchel, meanwhile, has gone to Bayern. And his arrival at the Allianz Arena has led to rumours of a number of Chelsea players heading to Bayern this summer.

Kai Havertz is one obvious candidate. He is a Germany international after all, and it is always hard for players from the country to reject Bayern.

But Havertz seems to be content at Chelsea and could resultantly stay in England for a few more seasons. Instead, midfielder Mateo Kovacic might go to Bavaria.

On Friday, German outlet Sport1 claimed Kovacic is pushing for a transfer away from Chelsea as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract. Inter Live then suggested Chelsea might engage in a swap deal with Bayern which would see Kovacic head to the Bundesliga and Leroy Sane become part of the Chelsea squad.

Tuchel wants Chelsea reunion at all costs

FCB Inside provide an update on the situation. They claim Tuchel views the Croatia international as his ‘absolute dream’ signing for Bayern.

The German giants are aiming to add to their midfield options and Kovacic is viewed as an ideal solution. Tuchel likes the player due to his strong tackling, excellent dribbling ability and his leadership skills.

Plus, Bayern will be able to sign Kovacic for less than his actual transfer value due to the fact his Chelsea deal is running down.

Another reason why Tuchel and Bayern view Kovacic as an attractive signing is the fact he can already speak German. He was born in Austria and spent his formative years there, which is why he is fluent in the language. This would help him to settle in quickly at Bayern, should they manage to strike an agreement with Chelsea for him.

Chelsea chiefs are facing a big decision over the 28-year-old. They could reject Bayern’s offers for him and put all their effort into tying him down to fresh terms.

But if they fail, they would run the risk of him leaving for Bayern a year later on a free transfer anyway.

Instead, it may be best for Chelsea to sell Kovacic this summer so they can at least make some money back on him. This would delight their former boss Tuchel.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have put Chelsea under serious pressure in the pursuit of a Paris Saint-Germain ace, as per a report.
