Thomas Tuchel stance on Chelsea future revealed with Man Utd told they should strike

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, December 2021

A report has revealed the stance of Thomas Tuchel when it comes to his Chelsea future, with the manager wanted by English rivals Manchester United.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been hit with sanctions by the UK Government, throwing the future of the side into doubt. Chelsea are essentially under a transfer ban and cannot agree new contracts with players.

According to The Sun, Russian businessman Abramovich has 81 days to sell, otherwise the entire club may fold.

Chelsea confirm they will fulfil their upcoming fixtures, although the wider implications of the sanctions are likely to be huge.

Once the transfer ban ends, the Blues may have to sell valuable stars such as Romelu Lukaku, Christian Pulisic or Kai Havertz.

Jamie Carragher thinks United should pounce on the situation by capturing Tuchel from Stamford Bridge.

In his column for The Telegraph, Carragher wrote: “Manchester United have been presented with the ideal opportunity to recruit the manager who should be their number one target: Thomas Tuchel.

Man Utd told to pursue Thomas Tuchel

“Given the events at Chelsea, United’s decision to wait until the end of the season presents them with a choice no-one could have foreseen.

“Tuchel, like everyone else at Stamford Bridge, will have no idea what the future holds at his current club. No-one can offer him any assurances about how the squad will look at the start of next season given the club’s sale is on hold.

“No manager wants to be working amid such a background of uncertainty. If he gets the chance to leave for a club of United’s stature, he must take it.”

Chelsea sanctions mean Antonio Rudiger will leave this summer

Antonio Rudiger will likely leave Chelsea this summer after the UK government have put sanctions on Roman Abramovich

But The Telegraph pour cold water on Carragher’s prediction and United’s hopes of landing the German. They claim Tuchel ‘has no intention’ of leaving Chelsea.

He remains ‘fully committed’ to the Champions League holders and will see out his contract at the very least.

Tuchel reacts to Chelsea victory

Following the 3-1 win over Norwich at Carrow Road last night, Tuchel said: “The result was excellent. It’s never easy to win an away game.

“We played a very good first half. We played in the second half with a bit of feeling maybe we had a higher lead.

“Suddenly the energy is back in the stadium and the opponent has nothing to lose but we dug in and managed to win which was important to us.

“It’s a bit awkward as we played weeks and weeks with no games in the Premier League. It’s necessary. We are in the race and want the best possible outcome.

“There is some noise around the club so big credit to the guys for their character.”
