Todd Boehly delight as Chelsea target ‘expected’ to gain transfer after emerging as Mason Mount successor
Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly will be extremely happy after learning that one of his main targets to replace Mason Mount has begun pushing for a summer move.
Mount has enjoyed a highly successful spell at Chelsea since graduating from their academy. He has made 192 appearances for the Blues, registering 33 goals and 37 assists from attacking midfield.
While Mount has been in Chelsea’s senior squad, they have won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. However, his time at Chelsea could be coming to an end.
Chelsea and the England international have yet to agree on a new contract. Mount wants to become one of the highest earners in the squad, but Chelsea are unwilling to meet his large financial demands.
With Mount’s current deal expiring in June 2024, Chelsea may have to sell him for a reduced price this summer. And Liverpool are waiting to snap him up as Jurgen Klopp plans his midfield overhaul.
Although, it will not be straightforward for Liverpool to capture Mount. On Sunday, TEAMtalk exclusively revealed that Newcastle United and Manchester United are also interested in the player.

While Mount could secure a transfer to one of Chelsea’s ‘Big Six’ rivals this summer, Boehly must get to work on finding his replacement.
Last week, it emerged that the Blues chief has surprisingly landed on former Man Utd player Andreas Pereira as a potential signing.
Chelsea want Prem star to replace Mount
The Brazilian left Man Utd in July last year by joining Fulham in a £10million deal. And he has impressed in a Fulham shirt, proving himself to be one of their biggest sources of creativity.
Pereira’s performances have resulted in serious interest from Chelsea. And Boehly will be delighted after hearing the latest news on the star.
As per Goal, Pereira is ‘expected’ to leave Fulham in the summer. He has not received any proposals just yet, but he has let the Cottagers know that he would like to challenge himself at a higher level. Therefore, if an offer comes in from the right club, Pereira will push to make the move a reality.
Goal reiterate the fact that Chelsea are pursuing him, although they will face competition from two of the biggest clubs on the continent. Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also eyeing him as a potential summer recruit.
While Fulham would ideally like to keep the 27-year-old for a few more years, they will sanction his exit if the price is right. The report suggests they will accept bids worth between £25-30m, although this sum seems low for a player who has done so well in the Premier League this term.
Should Pereira move to Chelsea, then he will be hoping his spell at Stamford Bridge is better than his time at Man Utd.
The Belgium-born ace was on Man Utd’s books for 10 years from January 2012 until last summer. He had several loan spells away from Old Trafford, such as with Valencia, Lazio and Flamengo.
Pereira did make 75 appearances in Man Utd’s first team, but he only managed four goals and five assists in that time.
