Crystal Palace have joined the lengthy list of Premier League clubs in the hunt to sign Boubacar Kamara, it’s been claimed.
The 22-year-old Marseille midfielder is set to be a free agent this summer. Having impressed in Ligue 1, his availability with no transfer fee has attracted interested parties who are lining up with contract offers.
Aston Villa have reportedly put forward a proposal. Steven Gerrard has made Kamara his number one target.
And both Newcastle and West Ham are said to have been in talks with the Frechman’s representatives too.
Manchester United didn’t pursue a cut-price deal in the January transfer window. So approaches from sides outside the top six could be successful.
Whether he’d push to Kamara’s ‘huge’ wage demands is unclear, though. The player is in the power position for negotiations.
A new central midfielder is high on the Eagles’ list of desires. Patrick Vieira’s current options are ageing compared to the rest of his squad.
Their primary target is believed to be Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez, 24.

Crystal Palace want to bring ex Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid back to the Premier League
The Mexico international would have lower wages than Kamara. However, it would take a fee in the region of £30million to sign him.
A potentially cheaper option than both of those which has been touted is Aston Villa’s Morgan Sanson.
He left Marseille to move to the Premier League last January but is way down Gerrard’s midfield pecking order.
His last transfer cost roughly £14m, so he offers Palace another alternative in their hunt.
Palace win lauded by Vieira
Meanwhile, Vieira felt Saturday’s victory over Wolves was the best display he has witnessed by his players since arriving at the club.
The Eagles picked up their second win in three league games with a 2-0 triumph.
Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring on 19 minutes. Wilfried Zaha then bagged the second from the penalty spot in the 34th minute. Palace’s third away victory of the campaign sees them sat 10th in the Premier League table.
They have drawn 12 games this term while beating the likes of Tottenham and Manchester City.
But Vieira firmly believes that taking all three points from Bruno Lage’s side tops anything he has seen before…
