Eddie Nketiah latest: Crystal Palace leading charge as striker rejects countless Arsenal offers

Eddie Nketiah celebrating for Arsenal

Crystal Palace are reportedly lining up a bid for Arsenal starlet Eddie Nketiah this summer after the striker has run down his contract with the Gunners.

Since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left for pastures new, Nketiah has slowly worked his way back into his manager’s plans. And despite playing eight games less this season than Alexandre Lacazette, Nketiah has managed to score four more goals than the France international.

The England under-21 international also ended up outscoring Aubameyang, who only scored a mere seven goals for the Gunners before joining Barcelona.

The Telegraph are now reporting that Crystal Palace are vying for the acquisition of Nketiah this summer after missing out on his services last season.

A deal is, however, reliant on whether the striker signs a new deal with the Gunners. As things stand, he is due to become a free agent. He may have played his last game for his current club.

The report also claims that after a strong maiden season in charge of Palace, Patrick Vieira has made it clear that it is important to strengthen his squad in all departments.

Yet Nketiah’s future at Arsenal is still undecided. Arteta has reportedly made countless attempts to extend his stay with the Gunners.

An agreement has, however, not yet been reached.

Nketiah on where his future may lie

The 22-year-old recently gave his thoughts on his situation and revealed whether or not offers have been made to him.

“There have been offers of a new contract but at the moment my aim is to play football and play regularly,” Nketiah said to The Beautiful Game podcast.

West Ham are reportedly in the mix for Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah, who would be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

“That’s my ambition and that’s what I hope to do but at the same time I’m at Arsenal. I love Arsenal.

“What I can say is just that I love the club. I’m a childhood supporter as well, people need to remember this.

“It has always been my goal to be the number nine for Arsenal and that only. I think I’m good enough to do that and I’ve always been driven towards that.”

It feels as if Nketiah has his heart set on elongating his stay at the Gunners. Though, a deal is yet to be reached.

In recent weeks, however, Arsenal have been consistently linked with Gabriel Jesus. If Jesus was to sign with Arsenal then there would be some fierce competition for the starting position.
