Crystal Palace tipped to battle Leeds for £50m Man Utd flop Ten Hag wants off the books

Manchester United's Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Crystal have reportedly re-entered the race for Leeds United target Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is expected to depart Manchester United this summer.

Erik ten Hag has allegedly told the right-back he is ‘free to leave,’ as the manager looks to generate funds for his own transfer business.

Wan-Bissaka began his career at Crystal Palace, where he arguably showed the best form of his career, so his resigning him would go down well at Selhurst Park.

The 25-year-old has struggled for consistent minutes since Ten Hag’s arrival, making just nine Premier League starts this season.

As a result, he is now surplus to requirements for Man Utd, with the club prepared to accept any reasonable offers for the defender this summer.

As mentioned, Leeds United have been admirers of Wan-Bissaka for a while, with Javi Gracia’s team tipped to make a bid for him in the coming months.

However, according to the Sun, Leeds will now face competition from Palace for the England international.

Ten Hag is willing to offload Wan-Bissaka

Since signing for Man Utd for £50m in 2019, Wan-Bissaka has gone through some spells of good form, but has never really lived up to his hefty price tag.

Overall, in 150 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils, the right-back has scored just two goals and made 11 assists.

Now, this season, Wan-Bissaka has found himself behind Diogo Dalot in the pecking order, so it’s no real surprise that Ten Hag is willing to let him go.

Palace could certainly do with a new right-back, as Roy Hodgson’s current first choice option, Joel Ward, is 33, while his back-up, Nathaniel Clyne, is 32.

With that in mind, the Eagles could certainly do with a more long-term option, so resigning Wan-Bissaka could prove to be an excellent bit of business.

On the other hand, Leeds boss Javi Gracia is also thought to be keen to bring in a new right-sided defender this summer, with Luke Ayling failing to impress the Spanish manager so far.

With that in mind, there could potentially be a bidding war between Palace and Leeds for Wan-Bissaka this summer.

According to Transfermarkt, Man Utd value Wan-Bissaka at approximately £22m, but with two Premier League clubs in the race for his signature, his ultimate price tag could end up being higher than that.
