Crystal Palace transfer news: Eagles ahead of Wolves in chase for Swansea ace Flynn Downes

Crystal Palace are reportedly the favourites to snap up talented Swansea City midfielder Flynn Downes, who is also of interest to Premier League rivals Wolves.

Eagles boss Patrick Vieira is looking to further bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign, with Palace also closing in on a deal for Cheick Doucoure from French side Lens.

Vieira wants more additions to his engine room, however, and is a big admirer of Downes.

The 23-year-old caught the eye in the Championship last season, leading to a number of clubs showing an interest.

Wolves are known to be monitoring the player’s progress. However, talkSPORT claims Palace are the frontrunners to get a deal done.

Whatsmore, Swansea are ready to cash in as they look to raise funds to bolster their own squad.

The Welsh side paid Ipswich Town around £1.5million to snap Downes in August 2021. The defensively-minded midfielder came through the youth ranks at Portman Road.

He made 37 appearances in the Championship for Swansea last term, scoring once and providing two assists.
