Former Crystal Palace star Clinton Morrison has urged the Eagles to keep hold of Wilfried Zaha, so that he can finish his career at the club.
Zaha has been a crucial asset for Palace across two spells at Selhurst Park. Indeed, his first spell saw him impress so much that he got a big move to Manchester United.
However, that move did not work out, as he featured just four times. That played into Palace’s hands, though, as Zaha returned in 2015, and has impressed regularly.
The winger has contributed to 151 goals during his time at Palace. Furthermore, he is the Eagles’ top Premier League goalscorer, with 56 goals.
There is regular speculation over the forward moving on from Palace. Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton were all linked with the Ivorian international last summer.
However, former Palace forward Morrison feels Palace have a big opportunity to retain the star until the end of his career.
“Wilf’s at an age now where he’s got to have a look and weigh up his options,” he said via football.london.
“Will he be able to get a move to one of those top four teams? I feel with Patrick Vieira there, then they’ve got a great opportunity of keeping Wilfried Zaha because I think he will improve him. Even at his age, he can still get better, you never stop learning until you’re finished playing.”

Indeed the Eagles appear to be on an upwards trajectory under Vieira, as they currently sit 12th in the Premier League, having finished 14th each of the last two seasons. As such, Zaha could be held down at the club.
“Hopefully, he will stay at this football club because he looks as if he’s enjoying it at the moment. If I’m the chairman of Crystal Palace, then I’m getting Wilfried Zaha to sign a new deal because it’ll help some of the youngsters there as well,” Morrison added.
Zaha could inspire talented core
Morrison feels Zaha could be a leader, and inspire the talented group that Palace currently have.
“There’s Michael Olise who’s been outstanding, Conor Gallagher, who I know is a Chelsea player, but if they can keep him for another year and then the likes of Ebere Eze as well. There’s a lot of talented youngsters that look up to Wilfried Zaha, so for me personally, I’d be offering him a new contract and seeing his career out here,” Morrison said.
Indeed, Zaha has been joined at the club by some big talents of late. While Zaha himself is the club’s top goalscorer, Gallagher is second on the list, and Olise has the most assists.
As such, Zaha appears to be leading from the front. If Palace can tie him down, he could continue to inspire top performances from the players around him.
