Wilfried Zaha sparks pundits disagreement with Newcastle tipped to spring Crystal Palace transfer

Carlton Cole reckons that Wilfried Zaha should stay at Crystal Palace and “be a legend”, though another pundit thinks it’s finally time to leave.

Wilfried Zaha is 30-years-old and is arguably in the peak of his career. The Ivory Coast international has bagged 12 goals in the Premier League this year and has been the star attacker in Patrick Vieira’s team.

The striker has had highs and lows in his career, most notably signing for Manchester United before being ousted by then manager David Moyes before making his mark.

Zaha is adored by the Crystal Palace fans and looks to be in his element every time he takes to the field at Selhurst Park. However, he talk over a Zaha exit picks up every summer and this year’s is expected to be no different.

The potential suitors this time are Eddie Howe’s Newcastle who now have the financial muscle to match their ambition.

Widespread reports have suggested Newcastle will look to bolster the depth of their attacking department this summer.

Zaha would be able to fit into Newcastle’s system well and help take some strain off of Saint-Maximin in the wide areas. Having those two exceedingly dangerous players on the flanks would make many defences pause for thought.

Now or never for Zaha

Zaha isn’t getting any younger and if he is to test himself in the upper echelons of the Premier League, this summer may be his last chance to move.

Newcastle are not a Champions League qualification contender yet, though their surge in the second half of the season after splashing the cash in January is a sign of things to come.

talkSPORT pundit, Darren Bent, has spoken about Zaha’s situation and thinks that this may be his last chance to get a move to one of the Premier Leagues big-hitters.

Crystal Palace look to cash in on Wilfried Zaha this summer

“What is he, 30? I think Newcastle might be maybe the place for him. If I’m Newcastle, I’m trying to get him because he’s a top player,” Bent claimed via HITC Sport.

“Unless he moves this summer, I can see him staying at Palace for the rest of his career.”

Former Premier League striker Carlton Cole has also had his say on Zaha’s situation and proclaimed that the striker “needs to stay at Palace.”

“I think he just needs to stay at Palace. Stay there, be a legend,” Cole said, via HITC Sport.

“Patrick Vieira is unbelievable. He’s done really well for him so stay there.”

Palace take on Watford this Saturday in a match which could relegate Roy Hodgson’s Hornets. A win for the Magpies, meanwhile, would help cement their position inside the top half.
