Everton hold Chelsea to ransom, seeking one of two stars in return for Anthony Gordon transfer

Anthony Gordon, Everton, February 2022

Everton are reportedly looking to gain the services of either Armando Broja or Conor Gallagher within the transfer of Anthony Gordon to Chelsea.

Gordon was revealed as a target of Chelsea’s in August. The potential transfer has moved quickly, with the Blues having had two offers rejected already.

Still, Chelsea are pushing to acquire the 21-year-old. Their latest bid was reportedly of £50million, with £10million included in add-ons.

They would hope that would be enough, given their first two approaches have been unsuccessful.

Everton have reportedly told Chelsea their demands, should they let Gordon go.

Indeed, talkSPORT reports that the Toffees want either Broja or Gallagher from Chelsea, in return for the winger. Both stars spent last season out on loan in the Premier League, and were successful.

The pair have experienced first-team football with the Blues since returning, too. Both came on off the bench against Everton and Tottenham, and Gallagher also started the last game, against Leeds United.

There have been reports that Gallagher may be allowed to leave this window. Crystal Palace – where he spent last season on loan – have registered an interest, and Chelsea would apparently let him leave for £35million.

If the Blues are actually thinking about letting Gallagher go, they may as well let it be to Everton.

Indeed, they would benefit themselves that way, as Gordon joining the club would then become much easier.

Broja or Gallagher good additions in Gordon deal

Either of the stars Everton would be keen on taking in would be good additions to their squad. Gallagher was one of the Premier League’s best midfielders for much of last season.

Indeed, he contributed to 11 goals in what was really a breakout season for him in the top flight. He could soon break into Chelsea’s side, but a move to Everton could allow him to be one of the star men, as he was at Palace.

The potential addition of Broja would address a clear problem the Toffees have at the minute. They have struggled for goals this season, with Salomon Rondon being the only fit senior striker.

Broja – who bagged nine goals in all competitions last term – should help to rectify the issues in front of goal. Gallagher seems to have the higher ceiling, though, and Everton should be more than happy if they are to land him.
