High profile Everton star told he’s in last chance saloon and ‘is not good enough to start’

Dele Alli has been told that he is not good enough to start for Everton and that his career is at stake if he does not change his attitude.

The 25-year-old, who joined in a deal that could eventually cost up to £40million from Tottenham in January, has made six appearances for Everton so far – but all have them have been off the bench.

The former Spurs man failed to feature at all in the 1-0 win over Newcastle. He was also cup-tied for the FA Cup hammering at Crystal Palace.

And former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has been pretty scathing about the midfielder.

He told Football Insider: “Not starting doesn’t help but clearly he’s not good enough to start.

“These are desperate times for Everton and you would think Alli is someone who can help them out.

“He’s not been injured, has he? So I don’t know why he’s not been starting.

“He can’t get in the team and when you aren’t starting games you are going to struggle.

“You would think a change in scenery would do him the world of good but clearly he hasn’t been training well enough.

Lampard job on the line even if Everton stay up

Lampard job on the line even if Everton stay up

Frank Lampard is rumoured to be on his way out at Everton this summer regardless of if Everton stay up or not

“You have to question his attitude at this point, I can’t think what else would be keeping him from playing.

“If that’s the case he needs to wake up.”

Alli facing uncertain future – again

Alli became available for transfer after falling out with Tottenham boss Antonio Conte. Indeed the Italian often left the former MK Dons mant of matchday squads regularly.

That prompted the Toffees to strike a deal, with the £40m structured around performance-based add-ons.

Those add-ons look some way off at the current tie, unless Alli can get his career back on track under Frank Lampard.

However, there is another potential issue on the horizon, given that Alli was a Lampard signing at the turn of the year.

The Goodison boss is already under huge pressure. Indeed, recent reports suggest he could be sacked – if the unthinkable happens and Everton are relegated.

And without the man in the corner who wanted his transfer, Alli could again see his career in limbo.
