Dele Alli transfer ‘finalised’ as report reveals fee Everton will pick up for flop signing
The loan transfer of Dele Alli to Besiktas has been ‘finalised’ with Everton, and a report has detailed how much the Toffees will receive in a loan fee and buy option.
After falling down the pecking order at Tottenham, Alli left north London in January to sign for Everton. Tottenham let the attacking midfielder go essentially on a free, but with several add-ons included in the deal.
While Everton did not have to put down an initial payment for Alli, they will have to send Tottenham £10million if he reaches 20 appearances.
And other clauses in the transfer could see Everton pay Antonio Conte’s side £40m in total.
However, this is extremely unlikely to happen now. Alli has only played 13 times for Everton and is yet to register a single goal or assist.
He has failed to rediscover his form while on Merseyside and if anything looks lower on confidence than he was at Spurs.
Alli has won 37 caps for England but is now facing the worst point in his career. Everton don’t need him in the squad and hope to ship him out on loan before the summer window closes.
Reports in Turkey recently revealed Besiktas are set to sign Alli on a season-long loan. And Turkish newspaper Sabah label it the ‘transfer of the year’ for the Super Lig.
They state Alli will take home around €2.25m for the year, which works out at around £36,500 a week.
Dele Alli buy option emerges
Sport Witness provide an update, while citing Sabah and fellow Turkish source Fanatik. They reveal Besiktas will cover all of the 26-year-old’s wages for the season.
Plus, it has come to light how much Everton will receive as part of the option to buy they have agreed with Besiktas.
If Alli does well there and Besiktas opt to capture him permanently, then Everton will get £5.9m (€7m). And the player will then sign a three-year contract with his new team.
This will see the Toffees pick up a profit on him as they haven’t had to send any money to Spurs, due to him playing so little.
The only downside is Besiktas will not be paying Everton a loan fee. That means they will only receive money in a years’ time, and if Alli impresses.
The reports claim Alli’s switch to Besiktas is ‘finalised’ and he will arrive in Istanbul today (Friday). He will then undergo a medical and sign his contract.
The transfer could be announced ‘at any moment’, which shows it is set to reach completion. It is unclear whether Alli will become a Besiktas player in time for their league match on Sunday evening.
Everton have done well to agree a buy option for the Englishman. After all, he has been very disappointing since arriving on Merseyside.
However, there is no guarantee they will actually get any money for him. Besiktas are free to avoid the buy option if they so wish. And this would leave Everton in the same predicament next summer.
Meanwhile, Friday’s Euro Paper Talk includes Everton pursuing a Napoli player to improve their attacking ranks.
