Everton transfer news: Toffees linked with Red Bull Bragantino starlet Eric Ramires for cut-price fee

Eric Ramires of Red Bull Bragantino

Ahead of their rebuild this summer, Everton have been linked with Under-20 Brazil starlet Eric Ramires to bolster their defensive ranks, per a report.

The Toffees are coming off the back of one of their worst seasons in recent memory. The club narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship thanks to an upturn in form towards the end of the campaign.

Due to this close escape, Frank Lampard will no doubt be looking to the transfer window this summer.

The club are in desperate need of a rebuild and could do with a breath of fresh air around the camp.

A report from Brazilian media outlet UOL has claimed Everton are ‘interested’ in Ramires.

The defender is mostly used in the defensive-midfield position but has been known to play slightly further behind in centre-back.

The report also claims that Everton have been ‘studying’ a move for Ramires this summer. Despite that fact, UOL also state that the 21-year-old will not be sold for ‘low values’.

Ramires was brought into Bragantino for a mere fee of around £1.9million. Though, the price Everton will have to pay will more than likely be much higher.

An example of his current fee can be found from transfermarkt, who have Ramires’ value listed at around £3.6m. This is the highest it has ever been.

Eric Ramires would suit Everton

There’s no question that Everton have struggled massively this year. Their appointment of Rafa Benitez didn’t go to plan and Lampard had to step in and help save them.

The upcoming summer transfer window is likely going to be a major turning point for the Toffees.

Ramires’ versatility is a key part of his game and one of the main qualities he offers. This would be beneficial to Everton as he would be able to cover more than one area on the pitch, in case of injuries.

The 21-year-old would also fulfil a vision for Lampard which is to garner young talent and develop them within the team.

Everton need new faces in the squad to improve their stance in the league next season.

Without arrivals and departures, the Toffees may find themselves in a similar situation as this season during the 2022/23 campaign.

Ramires would also be able to help out in the midfield department as the likes of Allan and Tom Davies are set to leave Goodison Park this summer.
