Everton have scouted Stade Reims forward El Bilal Toure ‘extensively’ and could move for him as Richarlison’s replacement, according to a report.
Richarlison looks set to leave Everton for Tottenham in the near future. Spurs have agreed a £60million deal to sign the Brazil attacker, and personal terms are also in place.
Chelsea are attempting the hijack the signing, according to Fabrizio Romano. Although Spurs are in pole position as things stand.
Either way, Richarlison will likely be playing for another English team during the 2022-23 campaign. His sale will help to improve Everton’s poor financial situation.
Of course, some of the funds need to go on a replacement up front. The Toffees cannot solely rely on Dominic Calvert-Lewin for goals.
Toure is only 20 years old but has already made 65 appearances for Stade Reims’ first team. Plus, he has won 13 caps for Mali, scoring on four occasions.
Toure’s scoring record isn’t the best – nine goals have come his way in those 65 club matches. However, he is impressing in France and has the potential to become a deadly attacker in the future.
El Bilal Toure price set at £20m
Toure mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also play out wide. This means he would be a good replacement for Richarlison’s versatility.
Reims will only accept offers worth £20m or more for the starlet. This should be within Everton’s price range once the funds from Tottenham or Chelsea come through.
Such a deal would also leave plenty of money to aid Everton’s finances and possibly improve other areas of the pitch.
Everton are not alone in admiring Toure. Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Lyon and Monaco are all keeping tabs on his development too.
Tottenham and Everton agree deal for Richarlison
Everton have agreed a deal to sell Richarlison to Tottenham following a medical
But Everton’s need for a new forward could see them move first and resultantly win the race for his services.
Toffees supporters may want the club to go for a bigger name, or someone with more experience.
However, the report claims Everton want someone of Toure’s profile and age to aid Lampard’s rebuilding of the squad.
Toure is a raw talent, similar to how Richarlison was before he honed his craft at Goodison Park. Therefore, this could be a shrewd move by Everton as they look to replace one of their best players.
Meanwhile, Everton have reportedly made an enquiry to sign a Premier League-quality free agent.
