Everton transfer news: Lampard wants exciting Wolves forward on board to cover multiple positions

Daniel Podence, Ruben Neves, Wolves, March 2022.

Everton are reportedly interested in signing Wolves star Daniel Podence, as Frank Lampard looks to bolster his attacking options in 2023.

The Goodison Park outfit are said to be on the lookout for fresh forward options, especially versatile ones who can play multiple positions – and that is where Podence fits in.

Indeed, Football Insider reports that the 27-year-old is firmly on the radar of Everton’s recruitment team. That is largely down to a growing belief this could be Podence’s last season at Wolves.

The tricky attacker currently has a contract that runs until the summer of 2024.

The Portugal international is also one many Wolves stars represented by Jorge Mendes and his agency Gestifute.

It’s claimed Mendes will look to find a new club for Podence over the coming months. That’s despite the fact the player has been a regular starter at Molineux this term.

Starting in a wide left role, Podence has featured in 10 of Wolves 12 Premier League games so far.

He has only scored two league goals so far. But that still leaves him top of the club’s scoring charts as Wolves continue to struggle to find the target.

Overall his tally of 12 in 81 appearances is hardly eye-opening. However, he also has eight assists to his name in that time.

Lampard still looking for attacking talent

As for Everton‘s need to give Frank Lampard more attacking alternatives, the Toffees have looked more threatening this season.

Lampard brought in Neal Maupay and Dwight McNeil to give his side more of a goal threat over the summer, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is now back to full fitness.

Indeed, the England forward was on target in Saturday’s impressive 3-0 win over Crystal Palace that ended a run of three successive league defeats.

Everton are back in action on Saturday when they head to Fulham for a tea-time kick-off.
