Everton man travels to France ahead of Ligue 1 switch, as Toffees have £15m bid rejected for Ajax star

Andre Gomes and Mason Holgate

Everton have reportedly had a £15million bid for Mohammed Kudus rejected by Ajax, while Andre Gomes is on his way to France ahead of a Ligue 1 transfer.

Everton’s interest in Kudus came about earlier this month. On Wednesday, the midfielder refused to train with Ajax to try and ‘force through’ a move to Everton.

This is what Lisandro Martinez and Antony did before securing transfers to Manchester United.

Kudus believes this is the best way to get his transfer wish across to Ajax officials.

Miguel Delaney, the chief football writer at The Independent, comes in with an update. He claims Everton have launched a £15m bid plus add-ons for the Ghanaian.

However, this proposal has been pushed back by Ajax. This is because they believe Kudus will be ‘worth much more within a year’.

This means Everton will have to increase their offer if they want to land him before tonight’s deadline. If they fail, then Everton risk paying a huge amount to complete a deal next year.

Amid the speculation surrounding Kudus, Sky Sports have provided their latest information on current Everton player Gomes.

Andre Gomes close to leaving Everton

The 29-year-old is yet to feature in the Premier League this season after falling down the pecking order at Everton. Frank Lampard sees him as being surplus to requirements, and this is especially the case after the return of Idrissa Gueye from PSG.

Gomes is eager to leave the Toffees so he can play regularly. This will help his chances of making the Portugal squad for the World Cup.

As per Sky Sports, Gomes is in discussions with Lille over a move to the French club. He is currently travelling to France to complete the deal.

However, they don’t reveal if the move will be permanent or a season-long loan. Gomes’ Everton contract runs until June 2024, while he originally joined them for £22m in summer 2019.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will no longer pursue Anthony Gordon due to Everton’s high asking price for him, according to a report.
