Everton plot ambitious double raid on Serie A club as Dyche reignites interest in January targets

Beto of Udinese heads the ball

Everton are reportedly set to reignite their interest in two Udinese stars this summer, as Sean Dyche looks to revamp his squad ahead of next season.

The Toffees currently find themselves in the midst of yet another relegation battle after winning just six games this term, so the English manager will be keen to avoid a similar fate in the future.

Indeed, the Merseyside club could potentially lose as many as seven players at the end of the season with their contracts coming to an end, so they look set for a busy summer window.

According to reports coming out of ItalyEverton are preparing to make another approach for Udinese striker Beto in the coming months, after seeing a late January bid turned down for the Portuguese player.

The lack of a proven goal scorer has been a real problem for the Blues this season, netting the joint-least goals in the Premier League so far.

Indeed, their number nine Dominic Calvert-Lewin has endured another injury-plagued campaign, while summer striker signing Neal Maupay has scored just once in 20 league appearances.

Beto could potenitally fit perfectly into a Dyche system as a target man, standing at a towering height of 6ft 4, netting eight times in 26 Serie A outings this term.

Everton prepare offer for Rodrigo Becao

As well as stepping up their pursuit of Beto, Everton are thought to be ‘close’ to securing a deal for long-term defensive target Rodrigo Becao, as per a previous report from TEAMtalk.

The Udinese centre-back’s contract will expire in June 2024, with negotiations over an extension thought to be at a standstill, so this summer may be their last chance to recoup a sizeable transfer fee.

It is believed that an offer of £17.6m would be enough to convince Udinese to sell Becao at the end of the season, but Everton will face competition from Inter Milan for his signature.

Dyche currently has plenty of centre-backs at his disposal with Michael Keane, James Tarkowski, Conor Coady, Yerry Mina, Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate all in his squad, with Jarrad Branthwaite currently playing well out on loan with PSV Eindhoven.

However, Branthwaite is being chased by several top European clubs thanks to his fine form, while Mina’s contract at Goodison Park is set to expire, so they could both potentially leave the club in the summer.

If that happens, Dyche will no doubt be keen to add another centre-back to his squad ahead of next season, with Becao a potentially excellent option.

The 27-year-old has bags of experience under his belt after making 122 appearances for Udinese since joining the Italian side in 2019, so he could be exactly what Everton need to move their way back up the league table next season.
