Everton reignite interest in Man Utd star as Sean Dyche identifies three exciting attacking targets

Everton are considering making a move for Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga this summer, according to reports.

Sean Dyche is keen to add more attacking options to his squad and the 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Goodison Park in the past.

Also, Erik ten Hag is reportedly open to letting Elanga leave for the right price. Therefore, this deal seems to have a genuine chance of happening.

Scoring goals was a BIG problem for Everton last season. The Merseyside club netted just 34 Premier League goals – the second-fewest in the entire division.

As a result, the Toffees came unbearably close to relegation for the second campaign in a row. Ultimately, they survived by the skin of their teeth on the final day of the season.

Quite obviously, Dyche does not want to endure something similar next term. So,  he is focusing on adding attacking players to his squad.

For instance, Everton have re-opened talks with Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma, who came close to joining the Toffees in January, before singing for Tottenham.

Leeds’ Willy Gnonto is another potential option. But, it seems Elanga has caught Everton’s attention once again.

Everton ‘interested’ in signing Elanga

According to FootMercatoEverton ‘hold an interest’ in signing Elanga this summer. They also had him on their radar back in January.

The report adds that Man Utd are ‘open to a discussion’ with the Blues, which suggests a deal could be struck.

Since breaking into the Red Devil’s team in 2020, Elanga has made 55 appearances across all competitions. In the process, he has scored four goals and made four assists.

The winger has always been touted to become a top player. But, with the arrival of players such as Antony and Jadon Sancho at Man Utd, he has found consistent minutes hard to come by. So, a move to Everton could be good for his development.

Elanga alluded to this in a recent interview. “It’s frustrating. It’s important for me to play. I’m focused on United, I’ll talk to the club later,” he said.

“I like the club, but it’s important for me to play. I’m still young. I spoke to Erik (ten Hag), I know what he wants me to do and I can only keep training hard.

“When the opportunity presents itself, I just have to be ready to take it.”

FootMercato do not state how much the Toffees would have to pay for Elanga. But, given their ongoing financial issues, a loan with an option to buy would most likely be their preference.
