Richarlison options open up as Man Utd learn new rivals for Everton striker

Everton ace Richarlison

Manchester United now have two rivals for Everton star Richarlison, with Bayern Munich joining Paris Saint-Germain in the race for the forward.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer. Relegation to the Championship for the Toffees would have guaranteed his exit. But Frank Lampard’s side have taken seven points from four games to give themselves a fighting chance of beating the drop.

With two games to go, they sit 16th in the table and are two points above the bottom three. Everton welcome Crystal Palace to Merseyside on Thursday before facing Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

Victory in either fixture will ensure there is top-flight football at Goodison next term. However, Richarlison has been tipped to leave the north-west outfit for some time.

United have been linked, with incoming manager Erik ten Hag tipped to make sweeping changes to the club’s attacking ranks. Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Paul Pogba look set to leave as free agents.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently reported that the Red Devils ‘have discussed’ Darwin Nunez and Richarlison for their summer recruitment.

And Goal suggest that they are ‘still in the picture’ to sign the latter. But PSG and now Bayern are also on the case, with the Bavarians’ interest the ‘most recent’.

Richarlison to dovetail with Ronaldo

It is anyone’s guess as to who will be in the starting XI when the Old Trafford giants begin their 2022-2023 campaign. They have been linked with any number of players but Ten Hag will doubtless have his own ideas.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has been the subject of many column inches. But it seems as though the Portugal international will remain at the Theatre of Dreams.

And Richarlison’s versatility means the Brazil international could operate in a wider position to accommodate the veteran superstar. He has never been a prolific goalscorer, with 42 from 134 top-flight outings while at Everton.

The South American bagged only seven in 2020-2021 and has nine to his name this term. However, he has been playing in a struggling team and may well benefit from a change of venue.

Richarlison’s price tag is unclear but it is thought Everton will want in excess of £50m for the former Watford man. All three linked clubs are said to be ‘willing to invest’ to get a deal over the line this summer.

Real Madrid have been linked in the past but are now thought to be focusing their efforts on securing PSG’s Kylian Mbappe.

Arsenal are also hold an interest but the stature of the Gunners’ rivals means they are likely to miss out.
