Sean Dyche in dreamland with Everton striker bid boosted by serious cash injection thanks to player sale

Everton boss Sean Dyche will be delighted after receiving a £25million boost to his summer transfer funds thanks to a player’s exit.

Dyche will push hard to sign a new striker at the end of the season. His current options in the position are Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Neal Maupay and Ellis Simms.

Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injury problems in the last two years. Knee and hamstring issues have limited him to just 12 appearances this term, and he has only managed one goal in that time.

Everton spent £15million to sign Maupay from Brighton last summer, with the Frenchman brought in to provide competition and backup for Calvert-Lewin. However, Maupay has also struggled to find the back of the net this season, registering just one goal in 22 games.

22-year-old Simms is not yet developed enough to lead Everton’s forward line on a weekly basis, although he did score for the Toffees in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea before the international break.

It is clear that Dyche needs a regular goalscorer to join his squad and help push them up the Premier League table next season. And Goodison Park chiefs have a couple of potential signings in mind.

One is Coventry City star Viktor Gyokeres. He is the Championship’s second-highest scorer this campaign, having notched 18 goals in 38 appearances. As per Football Insider, Coventry will be ‘resigned’ to losing Gyokeres if they fail to gain promotion to the top flight. They currently sit in eighth spot, three points off the play-off places.

Alternatively, Everton could capture Niclas Fullkrug from Werder Bremen. The Merseyside club chased him in January but could not get a deal over the line.

Things could change this summer as Werder Bremen need to sell a couple of their most valuable stars to balance the books. And Bild report that Fullkrug will likely be sold, with Everton hoping to snap him up.

Dyche should be able to meet Fullkrug’s €20m (£17.6m) asking price as his transfer kitty is set to be boosted. According to the latest from Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have triggered their option to sign striker Moise Kean permanently.

As a result, Everton will receive €28m (approximately £25m) this summer. And Dyche will tell Everton officials he needs pretty much all of this money to revamp his attack.

Romano’s tweet also carries quotes from Kean, in which he has strongly hinted that his Juve loan is about to become permanent. “I’m now clear what does it mean to play for Juventus — there’s a staff with four specialists to help becoming a top player,” he said.

Everton signed Kean from Juve for an initial £25m in 2019, though the deal had the potential to rise to £27.5m through add-ons. Kean did not live up to expectations in England, only managing four goals in 39 matches.

He had a loan spell at Paris Saint-Germain before returning to Juve in August 2021. The deal was a two-year loan which included an obligation to buy if certain conditions were met. And that transfer is now set to be completed.
