Morgan Gibbs-White: Everton confident of hijacking Nottingham Forest bid for top Wolves talent

Morgan Gibbs-White celebrates for Sheffield United

Everton are reportedly confident of beating off strong competition from Nottingham Forest to the signing of Wolves star Morgan Gibbs-White before the transfer window closes.

Reports over the last 24 hours claim that Forest are ready to launch a new £30million offer for the midfielder, having seen their previous proposals knocked back by their Premier League rivals.

The Toffees are also said to have had an initial bid of £22.5m rejected for the 22-year-old.

However, Football Insider claims that Frank Lampard’s men have not given up hope of striking a deal. The report adds that they are confident of beating Forest to the punch.

Gibbs-White is reportedly favouring a move to Goodison Park over the City Ground. And the face that Wolves are said to be strapped for cash makes a transfer more likely.

For their part, the Molineux outfit are confident the player wants to stay at the club.

Gibbs-White has also been offered a new deal to remain in the Midlands. His existing one is due to run out in 2024.

Lampard wants more goals from midfield

The midfielder excelled on loan at Sheffield United last season as they reached the Championship play-off semi-finals.

He notched 13 goals and added 13 assists for the Blades before they lost out to Forest in the play-offs.

Gibbs-White also played the full 90 minutes as Wolves opened the new season with a 2-1 loss at Leeds United.

Everton have already landed another creative player in the shape of Dwight McNeil. However, Lampard wants to add more dynamism to his midfield and that is where the Wolves man fits in.

But above all that, a new striker remains the main priority for the Toffees.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is likely to be out until October and Salomon Rondon has not really excelled when given his chance.
