Everton have reportedly made their interest known to Ajax in their chase for a new striker to bolster Sean Dyche’s ranks for the upcoming campaign.

The Toffees boss is desperate to bring in a new No.9 this summer, with Ellis Simms already leaving for Coventry and Neal Maupay expected to be offloaded before the transfer window shuts.

And with Dominic Calvert-Lewin continuing to be in and out of the side due to injury issues, Dyche wants another body on board to ease the load on the England forward.

And that is where Ajax frontman Brian Brobbey comes in, with the 21-year-old known to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

The Dutch giants could offload a few first-team stars this summer, with former Rangers defender Calvin Bassey also wanted by Brighton and Fulham.

Brobbey would certainly give Everton more of a cutting edge up front, having scored 14 goals last season and has 43 club career goals in 122 appearances.

The former RB Leipzig star has also been capped 17 times for Holland Under-21s, notching nine times in the process.

He’s previously been linked with Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag tipped to move for the player last January.

Danjuma set for Everton medical

Brobbey could become part of a new frontline at Goodison that also includes Arnaut Danjuma.

The Netherlands international came close to moving to Merseyside in the new year but ended up joining Tottenham instead.

However, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that the Villarreal attacker is set to undergo a medical before completing a loan switch over the weekend.

He’ll become Dyche’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of veteran defender Ashley Young.
