Everton have added a much needed dose of firepower in the form of Neal Maupay, while Frank Lampard has also shifted a second flop out to Turkey.

The objective at Goodison Park in the final days of the transfer window was clear: add more firepower. Richarlison had as yet not been replaced, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to struggle with injury.

What’s more, Anthony Gordon is in Chelsea’s sights, meaning Lampard was facing up to the daunting prospect of fighting a relegation scrap without potent options in the final third.

Blackburn Rovers hitman, Ben Brereton Diaz, has emerged on their radar. So too had Brighton’s Neal Maupay and it is the Frenchman who Everton have signed.

The Toffees confirmed the news via their official website, stating Maupay has joined on a three year deal with an option for a fourth.

The 26-year-old’s fee was described simply as ‘undisclosed’. However, the fee was reported elsewhere to be in the £15m-£20m range.

Maupay had been a target for Nottingham Forest and later Fulham. However, it is Everton who won the race and Maupay revealed it was an “easy choice” signing for the blue half of Merseyside.

“Everton is a great club with unbelievable fans and I am so, so happy to be here,” Maupay told evertontv.

“It feels amazing. It was an easy choice for me when I started to talk with the Club. I knew straight away I wanted to play for Everton and help the Club to succeed. I’m excited and it’s a new challenge for me.

“I will do everything I can for Everton. That’s what the fans want – they want players that are ready to give their best, and ready to fight

“When I step on the pitch, I will run, I will tackle, I will try to make assists and score goals. Whatever the team needs, I will do it, because I want to be successful and I want my team to win.”

Maupay brings Premier League experience as a veteran of three top flight campaigns with the Seagulls. His league goals tally across those three seasons stood at 10, eight and eight.

Everton push another flop to Turkey

Dele Alli could square off against a familiar face from Goodison Park in the Turkish Super Lig this season – Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Alli put the finishing touches on his loan switch to Besiktas on Thursday. Friday was Gbamin’s turn with confirmation of his loan switch to Trabzonspor coming via their Twitter account.

Trabzonspor tweeted a video clip featuring Gbamin accompanied by a caption that read: “It’s a storm now. Welcome to Trabzonspor, Jean-Philippe Gbamin!”

Gbamin join Everton from German club Mainz for £25m in 2019. However, injury after injury hampered his stay at every turn.

He was loaned to CSKA Moscow in January and upon returning to Everton in the summer, was unable to force his way into Lampard’s plans.

He has now joined Turkish champions Trabzonspor, and while not explicitly stated, the loan is expected to be a season-long affair, according the Liverpool Echo.
