Fulham find replacement of Champions League level to fill void Liverpool will leave them with

Fulham are ready to reinvest the money they receive from Liverpool for Fabio Carvalho into an immediate replacement in the shape of Manor Solomon, reports claim.

Liverpool look likely to sign Carvalho in the summer after his Fulham contract expires. The Championship promotion hopefuls will be entitled to compensation for their young prospect. But any money they do receive is likely to be reinvested straight away.

That’s because various sources – including the Daily Mail – are indicating that they are close to signing Manor Solomon from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Solomon will be allowed to leave Shakhtar due to the current circumstances in their country. He has since fled to safety in Poland, but could be on his way to England soon to sign for potentially a Premier League club.

Fulham are currently 10 points clear at the top of the Championship with six games of their season to go. They are on the verge of securing automatic promotion to the top flight.

The last two times they have won promotion, though, they have suffered relegation the season straight after. To avoid that fate for a third consecutive time, they will need to appropriately reinforce their squad.

Replacing Carvalho will be one important bit of business. The teenager has provided seven goals and seven assists from 30 Championship appearances this season.

His potential is obvious from the fact that one of the country’s biggest clubs, Liverpool, have been trying to sign him since January. Recently, it was revealed that the deal is all but official for the summer.

In turn, Solomon should take Carvalho’s place in the Fulham squad. The Israel international often plays as a winger and at just 22 years old also represents a long-term prospect.

Until his Shakhtar career was put on hold for circumstances beyond his control, he had scored 22 goals in 106 games for them. He has experience in the Champions League, too.

The deal for Fulham to sign him will cost around £7m, the Mail have reported. Coincidentally, they are expected to receive up to £7.7m for Carvalho.

A move for Solomon to the Premier League has been on his mind for a while. He said back in February 2021: “My dream is to play in England and it also seems to me the most realistic option for me. And teams in England can pay.”

Now, Liverpool’s provisional signing of Carvalho seems to have unlocked the door for him to finally make that move.
