Fulham announce deal to sign Manor Solomon but face wait to register Israel winger

Manor Solomon of Fulham

Fulham have revealed they have reached an agreement to sign Manor Solomon, although the 23-year-old cannot be registered as their player until August 1.

Solomon is an Israel international who can play as a winger on either flank, or down the middle as an attacking midfielder. Last season, he notched four goals and two assists for Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk.

The attacker will play in the Premier League for the first time next season as Fulham have agreed to sign him on a one-year deal.

This comes after Solomon was allowed to suspend his Shakhtar Donetsk contract. However, he will not officially become a part of Marco Silva’s squad until being registered on August 1.

This is because of a FIFA ruling. It prevents players who have terminated their contracts from signing with a new team until that date.

On his move, Solomon told club media: “I’m really happy and delighted to be here at Fulham and I can’t wait to feel the special atmosphere at Craven Cottage.

“There are some great players here and I am determined to help Fulham achieve its goals for the year. I also want to send a big hug to my friends and supporters in Ukraine. You are in my thoughts.”

Cottagers co-owner Tony Khan added: “I’m excited to welcome Manor Solomon to Fulham for the next year.

Fulham chief backs Manor Solomon to make ‘valuable contributions’

“Manor is a very talented young player, and he’s made it clear that coming to Fulham is his preference, so we know that he’ll work hard for our Club. We believe that he can produce and make valuable contributions for us in the Premier League!”

Solomon, who has won 31 caps for Israel, will bolster Silva’s attacking options for the upcoming campaign.

He becomes Fulham’s third senior signing of the current transfer window. They have already brought in Joao Palhinha from Sporting Lisbon in a £20m deal and captured Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira for an initial £10m.

And the club could land Bernd Leno too as Arsenal are reportedly willing to accept a lower fee for the goalkeeper.
