Willian will reportedly return to the Premier League with Fulham, amid claims the club have offered him a contract following medical tests.
Willian has spent the majority of his career in the Premier League. Indeed, he made 259 appearances in the competition with Chelsea and Arsenal.
The Brazilian enjoyed success at both clubs – he won the Premier League twice with Chelsea, as well as the Europa League. The winger also won the Community Shield during his time at Arsenal.
He left the latter in 2021 to join Corinthians in his native Brazil. However, he became unsettled during his time there, and had his contract cancelled.
There had been links with Fulham while he was still under contract at the Brazilian club.
Since he left Corinthians, he returned to England, and has been training with the Cottagers. It appears he will now be joining the newly-promoted club.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that he has completed medical tests at Fulham.
The winger is reportedly signing a contract with the London-based side, which will see him return to the Premier League for a season, initially.
He will become the sixth permanent signing at Craven Cottage this summer.
Marco Silva was clearly keen on getting the deal over the line. It seems the manager likes what he has seen in training, and he will hope that Willian performs to a good standard upon his return to England.
Willian should add quality to Fulham
A player of Willian’s calibre should add quality to the Fulham side. Indeed, his experience in the top flight should serve them well.
While he was not on the top of his game in his last spell in England, at Arsenal, he still contributed to six goals in the Premier League in the 2020/21 season.
It may help for him to be one of the stars of the side, where at Arsenal he was surrounded by top quality players. Silva has not signed him for no reason, so Willian must have shown he is ready for a return to the Premier League.
Either way, Fulham have added a player who knows how to win, and has a lot of experience in English football.
