Mata’s career started with Valencia in 2007, and he stayed with the club for four seasons. He made 174 appearances, scoring 46 goals. He also won the Copa del Rey in 2007-08, his first year with them.
He signed for Chelsea in 2011, and spent two and a half years at Stamford Bridge. In that time, he won both the Champions League and Europa League titles, along with the FA Cup.
In January 2014, Mata signed for Manchester United, and has gone on to win the FA Cup and Europa League for a second time.
He made his international debut in 2009, and was part of the Spain squad that won both the 2010 FIFA World Cup and EURO 2012.
