Leeds transfer news: Ben Brereton Diaz a firm target as four more Prem teams circle for Blackburn star

Leeds United have made Ben Brereton Diaz a summer transfer target but four other Premier League clubs want the Blackburn striker, TEAMtalk understands.

The Chile international heads into the summer transfer window off the back of the best goalscoring season of his career. But after 22 Championship goals this campaign, he is on the market.

Indeed, TEAMtalk has learned that Blackburn are looking to cash in this summer.

Brereton Diaz‘s contract previously expired at the end of June. However, Blackburn activated their one-year extension option in May.

That means they can sell him for a fee, with Leeds back in the frame for him alongside Premier League rivals.

TEAMtalk has learned that Brighton, Southampton and Wolves are all in the running. Newly-promoted Nottingham Forest also fancy their chances of re-signing their former player.

TEAMtalk revealed in January that Leeds had interest in Brereton Diaz. However, Blackburn were unwilling to sell as they pushed for a place in the Championship play-offs.

Nevertheless, Rovers finished eighth under manager Tony Mowbray, with the club now willing to sell Brereton Diaz.

The 23-year-old also has interest from Spain. Sevilla, whose fourth-placed La Liga finish means they can offer Champions League football next season, are in the race.

TEAMtalk has previously revealed that Sevilla were hoping to seal a deal for Brereton Diaz for £20million, with Blackburn looking for slightly more.

Like with Forest, Almeria – who earned promotion to the Spanish top flight for next season – have made their interest known.

Brereton Diaz future assessed

Leeds are looking to bolster their attacking ranks this summer amid doubt over Raphinha’s future. The winger is a firm Barcelona target and has reportedly agreed personal terms with the La Liga club.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear what Patrick Bamford’s impact will be next season. Following injury troubles this term, the 28-year-old will hope a strong pre-season can get him back on track.

Elsewhere, Daniel James, Rodrigo, Jack Harrison, Tyler Roberts and youngster Joe Gelhardt are further options for Leeds boss Jesse Marsch.

Southampton are also looking to bolster their front line. They signed Adam Armstrong from Blackburn last summer, with Che Adams – a reported Leeds target – another option.

Armando Broja impressed at St Mary’s this season, but he was only on loan from Chelsea. Brighton and Wolves are further admirers of Brereton Diaz, who could well leave Blackburn this summer.
