Euro Paper Talk: New Arnaud Kalimuendo suitors threaten to throw Leeds off course amid bid shortfall; Leicester find Maddison successor

Leeds United have new rivals for PSG striker Arnaud Kalimuendo amid their latest bid falling short, while Leicester find their James Maddison replacement – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Arnaud Kalimuendo has fresh interest from Inter amid Leeds United’s chase for the Frenchman, according to a report.

Leeds have enjoyed a fairly successful summer transfer window so far, bringing in a host of fresh faces. Manager Jesse Marsch has revolutionised his midfield after Kalvin Phillips’ exit, with Tyler Adams among those to have arrived.

But after adding ex-Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra to their attack, there is a desire for a top new striker signing too.

Leeds chased Club Brugge star Charles De Ketelaere for a while, but the Belgian is moving to AC Milan instead.

Kalimuendo is their favoured alternative and the Whites have reportedly submitted a bid worth £17million.

According to Media Foot, though, PSG transfer advisor Luis Campos believes the Parisians can fetch up to €25million (£21million) for him.

And amid the shortfall in Leeds’ offer, the report adds that Inter have emerged as contenders for Kalimuendo.

The Serie A club’s arrival means there are now five clubs chasing the France Under-21 international, alongside Newcastle, Lyon and Rennes.

However, new PSG boss Christophe Galtier wants Kalimuendo in his ranks this season. He scored 13 goals on loan at Lens last term and is looking to form part of the French giants’ plans.

On the flipside, though, Hugo Ekitike has also signed for PSG from Reims. Kalimuendo would therefore be battling with the new arrival, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar for game time.

Leeds are aware that while Patrick Bamford recently extended his contract, he turns 29 in September and so is not a long-term option. He also struggled with injuries last season.
